I am an Occupational Therapist with over 25 years experience.  The early years of my career were spent visiting seniors and adults with disabilities in their own homes under contracts held with the Community Care Access Center (now the LHIN) and Veteran’s Affairs Canada.  From 2000 to 2012, I was one of several owner/operators of Therapacc Inc., a community based rehabilitation company in Lindsay, Ontario. At the time Therapacc Inc., was sold, I was the Director of Finance and Therapy Services. I have many years experience in working with people with memory or cognitive impairment, and their families and caregivers.  In 2012 I decided that I wanted to return to the front lines, working directly with seniors and the disabled. In 2012 I was trained as a Designated Capacity Assessor by the Ministry of the Attorney General. In 2014 I took a chance and using all the skills I had developed over the years and I opened my private practice – CARES – Capacity Assessment & Risk Evaluation for Seniors. Over the past 8 years I have built a very active and busy private practice with an exceptional reputation as an experienced and fair advocate for people with cognitive impairment and those who are vulnerable to elder abuse.

I am a member of the Kawartha Lakes Haliburton Elder Abuse Prevention Network and have been the treasurer for several years.  I have been a member of both the GAIN Advisory Team, the Haliburton Service Providers Network and the City of Kawartha Lakes Situation Table.  I have a wide network fo connections in the healthcare, legal and social services teams who work with seniors and adults who are at risk of abuse.  I am highly skilled at building rapport and trust with even the most suspicious and difficult clients and strive to advocate for their rights to make their own choices until it is no longer safe for them to do so.
